The Kremlin is unaware of talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in July, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Earlier this was reported by the German TV channel ARD.
“The Kremlin does not know anything about this, and it is probably necessary to contact the ARD channel for additional information,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
On June 26, a German television channel, citing sources, reported that official negotiations on Ukraine could take place as early as July. According to the channel, on Saturday, June 24, an international meeting on Ukraine was held in Copenhagen (Denmark), which was held in conditions of “strict secrecy.” The event was allegedly attended by representatives of Western countries, as well as India, China, South Africa, and Brazil. In particular, the meeting was attended by US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan.
The Russian and Ukrainian sides began negotiations to resolve the conflict immediately after the start of the special operation. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus in February-March, and the fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue was held on March 29 in Istanbul. The process was later frozen as Ukraine withdrew from the negotiations. The Russian authorities have repeatedly accused Kyiv of disrupting this process.
A number of countries have already proposed their plans to resolve the conflict. In particular, in February, the Chinese Foreign Ministry presented a 12-point program, which included, among other things, the cessation of hostilities. Peace initiatives were also offered by Indonesia, Brazil, South Africa. However, the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak , stated that any negotiation process with Russia is impossible on the basis of the proposals of these countries.
