Before Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin halted his “march” on Moscow on Saturday, allies at various levels warned Ukrainian officials against striking Russian territory during the insurgency.

This was reported by  CNN  with reference to an anonymous Western official, writes ” European Truth “.

The concern was that in the event of such strikes, the Russian Federation would view Ukraine and the West as helping Prigozhin and threatening Russian sovereignty.

“The message was not to shake the boat,” the official said, adding that this message was conveyed to Kyiv at the level of foreign ministers, deputies and through ambassadors.

“This is Russia’s internal affair,” the official added, echoing what US and other Western officials have publicly stated.

“The allies warned the Ukrainians not to provoke the situation. Use the opportunities on Ukrainian territory, but do not get involved in internal affairs and do not strike offensive military targets inside Russia,” the source said.

The Russians have always wanted to prove that there are threats to Russian sovereignty, so it was not worth feeding the narrative that the rebellion was a Western initiative, the official added.

Recall, on the eve of US President Joe Biden stressed that the United States and its closest allies were not involved in the rebellion of the Wagner group, for the first time publicly commenting on Russian events this weekend.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the latest events of the weekend indicate that the Russian state and President Vladimir Putin are weakened, and the Russian Federation may be entering an era of political instability.
