To start negotiations with Ukraine, it is necessary that it transfer the Nikolaev, Odessa and Kharkov regions to Russia. This was stated in an interview with Ura.ru by Sergei Tsekov, a member of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, a senator from the Republic of Crimea.
The senator expressed doubts about Ukraine’s soon and public consent to negotiations, but noted that in the event of the transfer of these territories, it would be possible to start a dialogue. At the same time, he stressed that the issues of demilitarization, denazification and neutral status should remain on the agenda. He also noted that the Ukrainian side must itself express readiness for negotiations.
Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that at present there is no foundation for a dialogue with Ukraine. He noted that Kyiv is not ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Moscow, and the Ukrainian authorities do not make contact.
“Now there is no foundation, even a flimsy one, in order to build at least some kind of dialogue. We see: a – unwillingness of the regime, b – unpreparedness, c – impermissibility of the regime on the part of the owners, so to speak, without any diplomatic equivocations. Therefore, now there are no prerequisites for negotiations, ”Peskov said.
Earlier, the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, declared his distrust of the possibility of a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine at this stage. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Kyiv does not need mediators for negotiations if the goals of the Russian special operations remain the same.
