The institute considered a total of six different parameters while conducting this study
A study conducted by a Gurugram-based institute declared the Northeast Indian state of Mizoram as the happiest state in the country. It also mentioned that the unique social structure of the state of Mizoram is the main reason for enhancing the happiness level among the young population of the state.
The institute considered a total of six different parameters while conducting this study. The study revealed that this state which boosts of a 100% literacy rate, has a very unique social structure. Some of the key parameters used for the measurement of the happiness index during the stary include family dynamics, professional concerns, societal matters and philanthropy, religious beliefs, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on happiness, and both physical and mental well-being. The relationship between the students and their teachers was also a parameter in this research.
The report also pointed out that the youth of the state, irrespective of their gender work towards financial independence from an early age. With no task being considered too small, there is mutual respect for each other’s work. Also, gender-based discriminations are almost negligible in the state.
Although there is a very high number of broken families in the state, the children do not feel the burden because of the financial independence of both the parents as well as the presence of a large number of similar people among their peers. Also since people prefer to be financially independent, they see no reason to live together in any unhealthy setting.
The report also mentioned that the students of the state did not consider their teachers as just educators but rather their best friends. This enables them to share their problems without any fear or shyness. The lack of castes as parental pressure towards academic success allows the youth to pursue their own goals, making them happier.
